Applied software engineering helps lead innovation

On December 2nd, the Applied Software Engineering Research Group (ASERG) delivered a profile-raising event to introduce local businesses to academic expertise in software system development. Lead by Dr. Carlos Eduardo da Silva, attendees heard about how software solutions and quality software production are at the heart of numerous business innovation opportunities. With the support of the Digital Innovation for Growth team, the evening showcased examples of the value and impact of university-industry collaboration.

The event went on to discuss how companies can benefit from access to the Department of Computing’s expertise. The event participants broke into interest areas including: Cloud computing, Software development and UI/UX, IT management and Sysadmin & Security. The smaller break-out sessions, each led by a member of the ASERG team, provided event participants with topic specific information on their chosen area of interest.

Since the event, ten businesses have started discussions with the department on how the Digital Innovation for Growth scheme can help them access our expertise.

Presentations and discussions were led by Dr. Carlos Eduardo da Silva, Dr. Soumya Sankar Basu, Dr. Faiza Samreen, Dr. Hakan Kiziloz with the support of the Research and Innovation Services.
